苹果开发车载Sari系统 年内可望投入使用

Siri, the voice assistant from Apple, will soon be coming to a car near you.

Apple announced the move at its Worldwide Developer Conference. BMW, General Motors, Mercedes, Land Rover, Jaguar, Audi, Toyota, Chrysler, and Honda were the car manufacturers that Scott Forstall, who leads Apple's iOS development, said would implement it. It's likely to hit the first production models in the next 12 months.

Siri will link to cars via an iPhone, if the photo provided by Apple is any indication. Of course, a big issue with using electronics in the car is distracted driving, but Apple says on its iOS 6 website that the system will be "eyes free." The phone's screen won't light up when a voice command is received, for example.

An interesting addition to iOS 6 will be Apple's mapping app -- the company plans to dispense with Google Maps. The data was collected last year, when Apple encountered some resistance from users who were concerned about being tracked via their iPhones. Apple said it wanted the data to build a map application by crowdsourcing the data, using the locations of WI-Fi hotspots.
