CORDOBA, June 2 -- First-half goals from Federico Gonzalez and Lucas Janson gave Tigre a 2-0 victory over Boca Juniors in Argentina's Superliga Cup final on Sunday.

Gonzalez struck in the 24th minute before Janson converted a 32nd-minute penalty at Estadio Olimpico Chateau Carreras in the northern city of Cordoba.

The was the inaugural edition of the tournament, which featured all 26 teams from Argentina's 2018-19 top flight season.

The champions and runners up earn a berth in next year's Copa Libertadores, South America's top club competition.
