NEW DELHI, Feb. 24 -- A police case of fraud and cheating has been filed against leading Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha for allegedly not performing at a fashion event last September despite receiving payment for the same.
The police complaint against Sonakshi has been filed by Pramod Sharma, owner of a company based in Moradabad district of northern state of Uttar Pradesh, confirmed police sources.
Besides Sonakshi, four others have also been named in the police complaint.
Sonakshi is the daughter of popular film-star Shatrughan Sinha who is presently a parliamentarian belonging to the main ruling the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). A popular politician now, Shatrughan was the country's health minister in former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government.
In his complaint, Sharma alleged that he had paid Sonakshi over 3.7 million Indian rupees and spent another million Indian rupees over her hotel and lodging facilities, but she refused to turn up at the event after receiving the payment.
Sharma organized a fashion and beauty award event in September last year and arranged a performance by Sonakshi at the event.
"I suffered huge losses due to her non-performance," stated Sharma in his police complaint.
