NANCHANG, China, July 25 -- China's top seed Zhang Shuai and second seed Wang Qiang recorded their second round victories to move into the quarterfinals of the 2018 WTA Jiangxi Open here on Wednesday.
Wang beat Uzbekistan's Sabina Sharipova 6-4, 3-6 and 6-2. After a good start in the first set, Wang made consecutive faults to lose the second set. In the deciding third set, Wang became more aggressive to secure the victory.
"Since the weather is so hot, I wanted to win the game as soon as possible, so I lost patience in the second set," said Wang, "fortunately I set my mind right in time."
