  、阅读理解(本大题共3小题,共30分)

  A

’s rays to enter but prevents the heat from escaping.

According to a weather expert’s prediction, the atmosphere will be 3°C warmer in the year 2050 than it is today, if man continues to burn fuels at the present rate.If this warming up took place, the ice caps in the poles would begin to melt.thus raising sea level several meters and severely flooding coastal cities.

Also, the increase in atmospheric temperature would lead to great changes in the climate of the northern hemisphere, possibly resulting in an alteration of the earth’s chief food growing zones.

in the past, concern about a man-made warming of the earth has concentrated on the Arctic because the Antarctic is much colder and has a much thicker ice sheet. But the weather expels are Bow paying more attention to West Antarctic, which may be affected by only a few degrees of warming,in other words,by a warming on the scale that will possibly take place in the next fifty

years from the burning of fuels.

Satellite pictures show that large areas of Antarctic ice are already disappearing. The evidence available suggests that a warming has taken place. This fits the theory that carbon dioxide warms the earth.

However, most of the fuel is burnt in the northern hemisphere, where temperatures seem to be falling.Scientists conclude, therefore, that up to now natural influences on the weather have gone beyond those caused by man.The question is:Which natural cause.has most effect on the weather?

One possibility is the variable behavior of the sun.Astronomers at one research station have studied the hot spots and‘cold’spots(that is,the relatively less hot spots)on the sun.As the sun rotates(旋转),every 27.5 days,it presents hotter or colder faces to the earth, and different aspects to different parts of the earth. This seems to have a considerable effect on the distribution of the earth’s atmospheric pressure, and consequently on wind circulation. The sun is also changeable over a long term:its heat output goes up and down in cycles, the latest trend being downward.

Scientists are now finding shared relations between models of solar weather interactions and the actual climate over many thousands of years, including the last Ice Age.The problem is that

the models are predicting that the world should be entering a new Ice Age and it is not.One way of solving this theoretical difficulty is to assume a delay of thousands of years while the solar effects overcome the inertia(惰性)of the earth’s climate. If this is right, the warming effect of carbon dioxide might thus be serving as a useful opposed balance to the sun’s fading heat.

46.It can be concluded that a concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere would

  .

  A.mean a warming-up in the Arctic

B.raise the temperature of the earth’s surface

C.prevent the sun’s rays from reaching the earth’s surface

D.explain the cause of great changes in the climate in the northern hemisphere

47.The article was written to explain

  A.the greenhouse effect

B.the solar effects on the earth

  C.the causes affecting weather

D.the models of solar weather interactions

48.Although the fuel consumption is greater in the northern hemisphere.temperatures there seem

  to befalling.This is

  .

A.mainly because the levels of carbon dioxide are rising

B.partly due to changes in the output of solar energy

C.possibly because the ice caps in the poles are melting

D.only due to the effect of the inertia of the earth’s climate

49.On the basis of their models , scientists are of the opinion that

A.the climate of the world should be becoming cooler

B.the new Ice Age will be delayed by the greenhouse effect

C.the man.made warming effect helps to increase the solar effects

D.it will take thousands of years for the inertia of the earth’s climate to take effect

50.If the assumption about the delay of a flew ice, Age is correct ,

A.ice would soon cover the northern hemisphere

B.the greenhouse effect could work in favor of the earth

C.the best way to overcome the cooling effect would be to bum more fuels

D.the increased levels of carbon dioxide could warm up the earth even more quickly

When you want to see if a library has the book you want, you can use the catalogue (目录) in the library. Most catalogues of books in a library take the form of small cards kept in boxes. One way of arranging (排列) the cards is in ABC order by the family names of the writers.

Catalogue cards usually give the following important information: (l) the name of the writer, (2)the shelf-mark (架号),that is, the Dewey number which helps people to find where the books are, (3) the title of the book, (4) the year of publication and the publisher, and (5) the number of pages in the book.

  1. If you know the title of a book and want to find out if it is in the catalogue, What else do you need to

  know?

  A.The shelf-mark.

  B.The name of the writer.

  C.The Dewey number.

  D.The year of publication.

  2. Which of the following is the kind of catalogue card described in the text?

If you don’t want people to know too much about you, then you had better keep your fridge contents secret, according to a British market research document released last week.

Researchers peered (凝视) into the fridges of 400 people in Britain and compared the contents with the owners’ lifestyles. They claim to be able to classify the nation’s people by fridge contents.

They say those people can be separated into five categories:nutrition nerds (no social sense), food faddiest (whatever’s in style), martyr mums, fast food fanatics and restaurant regulars.

Nutrition nerds care much about what they put into their bodies. Their fridges are stocked with fruit, vegetables and healthy meat.

People in this category tend to be highly organized and usually work in law or accountancy. The vast majority is single, but if they have a partner, that person will be similar.

A fridge full of vitamins — enriched juices implies its owner works in media or fashion. They tend not to eat the foods they buy. Known as the food faddiest, they just want to be seen as purchasing the latest important things.

A fridge filled with everything from steak to frozen fish suggests the martyr mum. Her fridge tends to be stocked with every kind of product, except what she herself would want. This fridge hints at difficulty balancing family and work life.

Fast food fanatics always buy mineral water or soda pop. The nearest they will get to fresh fruit is tomato sauce. Their fridges hint at someone who works hard and plays hard, also, someone who is not into long term planning.

Finally, a fridge filled with nothing more than a bottle of white wine and some sparkling mineral water implies an owner who is single, lives in a big city and enjoys the finer things in life. The fridge is empty because this person regularly eats in restaurants.

  26. What can we know from the first two paragraphs?

  A. Some researchers are fond of staring at other people’s fridges.

  B. People don’t want others to know about their secrets.

  C. The food you put in the fridge has something to do with your personality.

  D. There are mainly five kinds of lifestyles among British people.

  27. According to the passage, people who belong to food faddiest_________.

  A. don’t care much about money when buying things

  B. will try their best to stay healthy

  C. often stay up late to finish their job

  D. prefer to ask others about what to do next

  28. Which of the following is true according to the passage?

  A. “Nutrition nerds” are always organized and successful in their jobs.

  B. “Food faddists” like to stock their fridges with all kinds of vitamins.

  C. “Martyr mums” care themselves more than others.

  D. “Fast food fanatics” usually do not stock their fridges with fresh fruit.

  29. What will those who often dine out put in the fridge?

  A. All kinds of food they like.

  B. Only something to drink.

  C. Fruit, vegetables and meat.

  D. Food rich in vitamins.

  30. What is this passage mainly about?

  A. What people store in their fridges.

  B. Fridge contents and its owner’s secret.

  C. What we should store in our fridges.

  D. How to keep our fridge contents

  secret.

  2017届·合肥市二模)

Tomatoes are generally easy to grow. Experts suggest you start seeds indoors if the ground is still cold. For best results with the least risk, they say, plant when the soil is warm, soon after the frostfree date for your area.

Small plants may be placed a third of a meter apart in rows. If you grow staked plants, set the sticks in the ground about half a meter apart. Some larger varieties of tomatoes may need about a meter between plants and at least a meter and a half between rows. The idea is to leave enough space for harvesting.

Work the soil to remove weeds(杂草). But do not work the soil too deeply or you could damage the tomato plants. Water the plants regularly during long dry periods. Give them plenty of water. Plants in containers may need water daily or even more than once a day. Besides, do give the tomato plants complete organic fertilizers(肥料).

Some gardeners train tomato plants to grow on supporting materials. Whatever you choose, make sure the supports are tall enough. Most modern tomato plants grow about a meter tall. Others reach almost two meters.

Tomatoes started from seed take fortyfive to ninety days till harvest. The average air temperature should be about 24℃. In that case, you can pick the tomatoes when they are firm and fully colored. But if the weather is very hot, pick the tomatoes every day or two. Let them soften and develop their full color indoors.

There was a time when people thought tomatoes were poisonous. In fact, they are just the opposite. Tomatoes are good for you. But are they a fruit or a vegetable? Technically, a tomato is a fruit—the fruit of the tomato plant. But some fruits, including tomatoes, may be called “vegetables” because they are used in tasty foods instead of sweet cooking.
