  2016高考英语二轮阅读理解一百六十集选练(83)

2016高考训练题。阅读理解阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。For most teachers, a day never seems long enough to get all the planning, teaching or paper correcting done. Parent volunteers, if available, can do a lot of help.

Teachers can benefit from such help. New books can be marked Computers can be turned on or shut off properly. Teaching equipment can be cleaned and stored away. The list of jobs that parent volunteers can do is endless. Some schools even provide a coordinator to introduce these volunteers to teachers.

It is important to make sure volunteers feel useful and are given a variety of tasks to do. When a volunteer realizes there is no real contribution to make, he or she will not come back. Sometimes being given too many boring repetitive tasks drives volunteers away, too.

A teacher who wants to use the service of volunteers successfully should give time to the planning of tasks. Make a list of possible tasks for the volunteer to do. The tasks can be kept in a notebook. Information such as class schedule, names of students and school rules could also be included in the notebook. When the volunteer arrives, the teacher may not immediately have an opportunity to explain tasks. The volunteer can then check the notebook and pick a job on his or her own decision.

It is obvious that the class benefits from having adults. Children often behave better with the volunteer near them. Some volunteers work one-on-one with children or with small groups, helping children get needed attention. The volunteer can complete paper correcting or other tasks listed above, freeing the teacher for more teaching time.

Meanwhile, parent volunteers do need to understand that any information about children is to remain confidential. They should be coached on appropriate methods in a school system. They especially need to be careful of what they say.

  3. Why should a teacher list possible tasks in a notebook?

  B. It is helpful for parents to get involved in their jobs quickly.

  C. The teacher wants parent volunteers to choose jobs on their own.

  D. It is necessary for parent volunteers to know all the tasks to do in class.

Too much TV-watching can harm children's ability to learn and even reduce their chances of getting a college degree, new studies suggest in the latest effort to examine the effects of television on children. One of the studies looked at nearly 400 northern California third-graders. Those with TVs in their bedrooms scored about eight points lower on math and language arts tests than children without bedroom TVs. A second study ,looking at nearly 1000 grown-ups in New Zealand, found lower education levels among 26-year –olds who had watched lots of TV during childhood. But the results don't prove that TV is the cause and don't ride out that already poorly motivated youngsters (年轻人)may watch lots of TV. Their study measured the TV habits of 26-year-olds between ages5 and 15. These with college degrees had watch an average of less than two hours of TV per week night during childhood, compared with an average of more than 2 1/2 hours for those who had no education beyond high school. In the California study, children with TVs in their rooms but no computer at home scored the lowest while those with no bedroom TV but who had home computers scored the highest. Question: Could you introduce yourself first? Answer: My name is Misbah, 27 years old. I was born in a war-torn area. Right now I'm a web designer. Q: What are your great memories? A: My parents used to take us to hunt birds, climb trees, and play in the fields. For me it was like a holiday because we were going to have fun all day long. Those are my great memories. Q: Does your childhood mean a lot to you? A: Yes. As life was very hard, I used to work to help bring money in for the family. I spent my childhood working, with responsibilities beyond my age. A: If I could change something in my life, I'd change it so that my childhood could have taken place in another area. I would have loved to live with my family in freedom. Who cares whether we have much money, or whether we have a beautiful house? It doesn't matter as long as I can live with my family and we are safe. Q: How do you get along with your parents? A: My parents supported me until I came of age. I want to give back what I've got. That's our way. But I am working in another city. My only contact with my parents now is through the phone, but I hate using it. It filters(过滤) out your emotion and leaves your voice only.
