During the 2010 International Forum of Soccer, the Footecon, Corinthians striker Ronaldo declared on Wednesday that he is getting tired of the sport.
After 16 years as a professional, Ronaldo said he is close to the end of the line as a player and active participant in the sport.
Ronaldo said that in his time away from the field, the last thing that he wants to hear about is soccer.
He added that he purposely avoids the television and dislikes conversation regarding the sport. However, he recognized that his profession requires a set mind.
Corinthians' Ronaldo reacts during their Brazilian Championship soccer match against Goias in Goiania, December 5, 2010. Corinthians finished the championship in third place.
Ronaldo promised to start the 2011 season as if it were his first; training hard in order to avoid any potential injuries down the road. Next year will most certainly be his last as a professional athlete.
During the event held at the Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro, Ronaldo also called for the Brazilian Confederation of Soccer (CBF) to set a singular measurement and specificity of the fields throughout the country. The regulations would also help the country to host a successful 2014 World Cup.
Ronaldo complained about the multiple types of grass and the irregular field measurements that currently exist. He cited the fact that at Corinthians' training facility, the field was comprised of eight different types of grass and appeared to be an agricultural study rather than a playing field.
