The beleaguered Inter Milan coach Rafael Benitez would find he is in a more precarious position after his side lost 2-1 at at Chievo Verona in the Italian Serie A on Sunday.
Chievo striker Sergio Pellissier put the hosts ahead in the 29th minute, and teammate Davide Moscardelli's goal enlarged it in the 82nd minute, before Samuel Eto'o pulled a goal back for Inter in injury time.
After Inter lost to AC Milan 1-0 in the Milan derby last week, Benitez had been warned by the media that he had only two games to save himself, and the club president Massimo Moratti also criticized the team's approach.
There could be further problems for Inter after Eto'o was caught on camera head-butting Chievo defender Bostjan Cesar in the chest in a scene reminiscent of Zinedane Zidane's infamous clash with Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup final.
Cesar threw a weak punch that hit Eto'o in the face in the 38th minute. The Cameroon international initially started to jog away before turning around and butting Cesar in the chest. No action was taken against eiher player.
The Italian league has already this season used video evidence to ban Juventus winger Milos Krasic for diving.
The loss to left Chievoleaves Inter nine points behind table-toppers AC Milan and six behind second-placed Lazio who were held to a 1-1 draw at Parma.
Legendary Argentina striker Hernan Crespo gave Parma a 23rd-minute lead before Sergio Floccari ensured both sides would share the spoils.
An own goal from goalkeeper Eduardo and a Krasic strike extended Juventus' unbeaten streak to 12 in all competitions as they won 2-0 at Genoa, while Palermo were 2-1 winners at newly promoted Cesena to rise to seventh.
Juventus, who moved up to third in Serie A on 23 points, took a fortunate lead when Claudio Marchisio's deflected shot cannoned in off the post and the back of Portugal goalkeeper Eduardo.
Krasic, signed in the close season and fast becoming a fan favorite due to his resemblance to ex-Juventus hero Pavel Nedved, made it 2-0 on 23 minutes when Eduardo could have done better to stop the Serbian's shot following a weaving run.
Genoa hit the bar and Luca Toni was booked for palming the ball into the net as new coach Davide Ballardini suffered his first defeat after two wins in his first two games in charge.
In other matches on Sunday, a Giampaolo Pazzini hat-trick fired Sampdoria to a terrific 3-2 away win at Lecce.
Pazzini struck twice in the first half - one from the penalty spot - before David Di Michele and Souleymane Diamoutene scored in the last 20 minutes to set up a tight finish.
But Pazzini ruined the home side's afternoon with his finish two minutes from time.
Second-half goals from Alessandro Matri and Daniele Conti gave Cagliari a 2-1 away triumph at Brescia while Christian Terlizzi's finish seven minutes from time saw Catania defeat Bari 1-0.
