In front of their home crowd, the Vitoria soccer team defeated Gremio Prudente 2-0 on Sunday in the 30th round of the Brazilian soccer championship.

Vitoria's first goal came in the 41st minute. After Anderson Luis committed a senseless foul against Elkeson, the team was awarded a penalty kick. Goalkeeper Viafara was called in to take the penalty, sending the ball into the back of the Gremio Prudente goal.

Vitoria secured their victory by adding another in the 69th minute. Adailton passed the ball to Junior who then easily tapped the ball into the open Gremio Prudente net.

Vitoria now stands in 14th place with 34 points. In the 31st round of play, the team will travel to face Botafogo on Oct. 23.

Gremio Prudente remains at bottom with 21 points. In the next round of action, the team will travel to face Santos on October 24.
