Before entering the society, we are all required to receive education in schools for several years. In this process, teachers are like compasses, guiding us to walk in the right direction. In order to enhance the reputation, all the school, whether they are primary schools or universities, take measures to evaluate their teachers. From my respective, compared with other teachers, students can make a more objective evaluation because of their long contact, comprehensive analysis and no prejudice.
To begin with, students own more time contacting their teachers due to the classes they have everyday. The more frequently they contact, the more objective the evaluation they make. For instance, when I was studied in my high school, there existed two english classes on my daily schedule. Therefore, we have to stay with our english teacher for two hours at least. She also spend some her official or even spare time to help us explain the answers for question. We found that although she lacked of experience about composition, she payed enough patience in analyzing other grammar and did well in listening. However, if other teachers just visited the lesson of composition, inexact evaluation would be made by them. Long-time contact makes students more suitable to be the judge.
Furthermore, not only the academic knowledge, but the moral behavior should be taken in consideration. Admittedly, other teachers would make evaluation more professionally depends on their specialty and the examination scores and ranks of the students. Nevertheless, these do not represent the comprehensive performance of a teacher. Students prefer to have the class given by a warm-hearted teacher who is willing to help us solve the problems in studying and living. Taking my physics teacher for an example. Although he was an old men who always made mistakes in his answers, we all regard him as our fathers for his kindness to aid the poor classmates, his sense of humorous to make the physics an interesting subject, and the courage learned from him to overcome the obstacles in our lives bravely. Like our physics teacher, other outstanding students should be evaluated from all respect.
At the end, it is difficult to ensure the evaluation by others teachers exist no bias. The result of the evaluation is always related to the salary and promotion of a teacher. Thanks to the competitive relationship, some teachers will make prejudiced appraises. On the contrary, evaluation by students would avoid this problem, because the huge capacity of students assure the efficiency. Even if two or three dislike the teacher, the dates of other students will still be objective.
In a word, taking into account all these factors mentioned above, we can safely come to the conclusion. Even though evaluations from teachers have its advantages such as higher professionalism, I persist in my point of view that teachers performances should be assessed by students.
