　　1. blur v. 变模糊;弄脏

　　blur with sth. 被弄模糊

　　My vision blurred with fog.

　　我的视野被大雾弄得模糊不清。

　　2. bribe v. n. 行贿;收买;，贿赂

　　take /offer a bribe 受贿/行贿 give /offer /hand out bribes to sb. 向某人行贿

　　bribe sb. into silence 用贿赂封住某人的嘴 be bribed into secrecy 受了贿替某人保密

　　The manager of construction company offer bribes to the mayor with 3 million yuan.

　　那个建筑公司的总经理向市长行贿300 万元。

　　3. browse v. 浏览;随意翻阅;放牧;

　　I enjoy browsing in the bookstore on weekends.

　　我喜欢周末时在书店翻阅书籍。

　　4. brutal a. 残酷的

　　跟brutal 意思类似的还有几个词，它们的细微区别如下：

　　brutal 指极端残忍，强调无情或缺乏同情心，含有不择手段的意味。

　　cruel 一般性用词，指行动或态度的残忍。

　　inhuman 着重指缺乏同情心、仁爱等人类特有的良好品质。

　　savage 指缺乏文明人应有的教养，尤指在动怒或冲动时表现出的粗野蛮横，含野蛮意味。

　　fierce 指天性凶恶，令人害怕。

　　It is brutal to kill dogs and show the process on the Internet.

　　杀死小狗然后将视频展示在网上是很残忍的。

　　5. capsule n. 密封舱;太空舱;胶囊;

　　These capsules are beneficial to the heart.

　　这些胶囊对心脏有好处。

　　6. carve v. 刻;切开

　　carve into 把某物雕刻成某东西

　　Please do not carve on the bamboo when going sightseeing.

　　观光时请勿在竹子上乱刻。

　　7. casualty n. 伤亡人员

　　casualty insurance 意外事故保险 a casualty list 伤亡名单

　　Many casualties are reported in the battle.

　　这次战斗伤亡惨重。

　　8. cater to v. 迎合;满足

　　He did everything to cater to his girlfriend.

　　他做了一切事情来讨他女朋友欢心。

　　9. caution n. 小心;警示;慎重

　　表示警告、忠告的词还有advise，warn，counsel 等，它们之间有如下差别：

　　caution 主要针对潜在危险出警告，含有小心从事的意味。

　　advise 普通用词，泛指劝告，不涉及对方是否听从劝告。

　　warn 警告，含义与caution 相同，但语气较重，尤指严重后果。

　　counsel 正式用词，语气比advise 强一些，侧重指对重要问题出的劝告、建议或咨询。

　　Caution: Wet floor here.

　　地面湿滑，经过小心。

　　10. cherish v. 珍视;怀有

　　cherish 既可表示珍惜，也可表示怀有某种打算。

　　cherish an intention of doing sth.

　　Both of them cherish their hard-won marriage.

　　他们两人都很珍惜这段来之不易的婚姻。
