英语四级真题英语阅读长难句分析(1)

　　阅读是中重要的得分点和难点，对长难句的分析则决定了对阅读的彻底理解，也是学习语法，积累高级词汇、句型不可或缺的来源。而阅读部分均选自Times、Telegraph等著名外文报纸及杂志，其行文和词汇原汁原味，值得考生细细品味和灵活借鉴。

　　1. At Beth Israel each patient is assigned to a primary nurse who visits at length with the patient and constructs a full scale health account that covers everything from his medical history to his emotional state.

　　【译文】在以色列贝蒂医院，每名病人都配有一位长期专属护士，她负责询问病患，并创建一个包括从病史到目前情绪状态等信息在内的健康记录。

　　【析句】多重复合句，主句为each patient is assigned to a primary nurse, 后面有两个定语从句，who visits...and constructs...修饰a primary nurse, 定语从句内又有从句，that引导定语从句修饰healt account。

　　2. When a consumer finds that an item she or he bought is faulty or in some way does not live up to the manufacturer s claim for it, the first step is to present thewarranty, or any other records which might help, at the store of purchase.

　　【译文】如果消费者发现自己购买的东西出现质量问题或是在某方面没有达到生产商宣传的标准，他首先要做的是向购买这个东西的店里出示保单或者其他有用的购物凭证。

　　【析句】多重复合句，有一个主句和一个从句构成，其中主句和从句中又包含从句。主句the first step is to present...records, which might help...为定语从句修饰records，从句是when引导的时间状语从句，finds后that引导宾语从句，为finds的内容。

　　3. There can hardly be a man who hasn t at some time in his life smiled at the sight of a woman shaking in a thin dress on a winter day, or delicately picking her way through deep snow in high-heeled shoes.

　　【译文】平时若看到一位女士冬天穿着单薄的衣服瑟瑟发抖，或脚蹬高跟鞋在深雪中小心翼翼地向前走，几乎所有的男人都会发笑。

　　【析句】主句为There can hardly be a man,there be结构，hardly表示否定。who hasn t smiled at...为定语从句修饰a man，注意定语从句中，shaking in thin dress or picking her way...，动名词作定语，相当于who shaked。
