Media reports say General Administration of Customs officials seized more than 100,000 tons of "zombie meat", long-expired frozen meat products including chicken wings and beef, worth more than 3 billion yuan. Some of the meat had been frozen for more than 40 years.
据媒体报道,海关总署官员近日查扣10万余吨“僵尸肉”,即冻鸡翅、冻牛肉等早已过的冷冻肉产品,总价值逾30亿元人民币。其中部分肉冷冻超过40年。
“僵尸肉”(zombie meat / long-expired frozen meat products)指冰冻多年销往市场的冻肉,多为来自美国和欧洲国家的走私品,最终流向二三线城市的小餐馆(small restaurants)、路边摊(sidewalk snack booths)。常见的走私路径是,走私人员(smugglers)从境外以低价采购冻品(purchase the frozen meat for very low prices)并用冷藏集装箱(in refrigerated containers)发至香港,之后再发往越南。在中越边境(border areas)芒街等地拆解(consignments are divided up )后,再雇人以“蚂蚁搬家”的方式将冻品运到境内。
为了牟利,境内外相关人员互相勾结(collude with their associates),形成从供货(offering supplies)、走私(smuggling)、运输(transportation)、储藏(storage)、加工(manufacturing)和销售(sales)的隐秘的“一条龙”服务(form a complete and secret supply chain)。
