ATHENS, June 6 -- Olympiacos edged off AEK 24-23 in the fifth and decisive match to lift the trophy of Greek men's handball championship on Wednesday.
The team from Piraeus port did the big overturning at the final of the playoffs and managed to conquer the men's handball championship by 3-2 in a best-of-five series.
The first trophy of the men's handball division of Olympiakos was raised by the goalkeeper Kostas Tsilibaris. It was the 55th final in the men's championship history and the first time a title was judged through the fifth game.
With the conquest of this title, Olympiacos completes a year of almost absolute supremacy in Greece, including women's basketball, women's volleyball, men's and women's polo and men's handball, as well as the men's volleyball championship.
