__11__ clues tell you an example of an unknown word. Example clues are usually __12__ by the following words and phrases: such as, for example, and like.

2.misfortune
3.were arguing
as a guest “作为客人”。

“be doing ... when ...”
3.who/that 考查强调句型。 故填who/that。
operate on sb. 故填on。
短语be sensitive to意为“对…… 故填them。
根据句中“such as Tom, Peter and so on”可知,本句说的是好几个同事,应用复数。故填colleagues。
(2016·太原市高三第二学段测评)One year ago, I had a special English lesson hold at the railway station. It was quite different from the regular English classes we were familiar to, for we had no textbooks, no blackboard or no fixed seats.

Whenever an English word comes into sight, the class would burst into the cheers as if we had discovered a new world. Now, this unforgettable lesson still encourages me to be an active learner where I go.

Looking back to the National English Speaking Competition I took part in several days ago, I have a lot to share with you.
Firstly, I feel really delighted that I’ve won the first prize in the competition, which makes me understand the true meaning of the proverb
“No pains, no gains”. Besides, I’ve established the friendship with students from all over our country, from whom I’ve learned a lot. More importantly, taking this competition has enabled me to overcome my fear of speaking in public, thus developing my selfconfidence. Additionally, I owe many thanks to my teachers and judges, without whose help, I couldn’t have done such an excellent job.
To sum up, I will always treasure this meaningful and memorable experience.
