Unable to capitalize on their home field advantage, Guarani dueled out to a scoreless match against Atletico-MG on Wednesday in the 33rd round of the Brazilian Championship. The result was bad for both teams as they remain among the league's worst.
The result leaves Atletico-MG among the worst-four teams of the tournament, standing in seventeenth place with 35 points. With only five rounds of play remaining in this year's tournament, if the team does not place sixteenth or better, it will be lowered to the second division (Serie B) of the 2011 Brazilian Championship.
Guarani remains in sixteenth place with 36 points and also in danger of falling to the second division. In the 34th round of play, the team will travel to face Palmeiras on November 7 while Atletico-MG will host Santos on the previous day.
