Real Madrid got off to a flying start to their game against AC Milan to claim a morale boosting win in the Champions League.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil scored two goals in two minutes before the quarter hour to give their side three wins in their first three group games.
An assured display means the Spaniards are almost assured in the knockout stage of the competition and are likely to qualify as group winners.
Jose Mourinho's side went into the game on the back of a convincing 4-1 win away to Malaga at the weekend and Mourinho kept faith in the side that had performed so well four days ago, with the exception of Alvaro Arbeloa, who stepped into the side for the injured Sergio Ramos.
The stands in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium were filled to capacity as the Madrid fans hoped to see their side avenge last year's defeat to the Italian team.
Milan meanwhile had former Barcelona duo Ronaldinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovich in their starting 11 along with former Madrid midfielder Clarence Seedorf, while Robinho was on the bench.
The home side wasted little time in opening the scoring as Ronaldo fired home a trademark free kick after just 13 minutes. The Milan defensive wall parted ahead of goalkeeper Amelia, leaving him no chance of making the save.
A minute later it was 2-0 as Ronaldo caught the Milan defense off guard and Ozil fired in a shot which deflected off Bonera to end up in the back of the net.
The home fans were still celebrating as Real Madrid threatened to run away with the game. Di Maria fired wide and Higuain went close with a header from a Marcelo cross.
It was not until the half hour that Milan showed signs of reacting and Casillas had to be at his best to save a free kick taken by Pirlo, before Seedorf fired over from inside the area when he should have hit the target.
However, Madrid found a second wind and ended the half the stronger of the two sides.
They began the second half on top as well, looking dangerous in attack and assured in defense. Although there were fewer chances, it looked clear that Milan was running out of steam and Pepe should have scored a third for the home side.
Casillas made a late save from Roninho, but it was too little too late for a Milan side that was clearly second best on the night.
