Cesar Cielo finished second in the 50 meters butterfly on Sunday, losing to fellow Brazilian Nicholas Santos on the last day of the 2010 Jose Finkel Trophy swim meet.
Cielo earned the silver medal with a time of 22.71 seconds, trailing teammate Santos with 22.69 seconds.
Both Santos' and Cielo's time was good enough to qualify for the event in the World Championships at the end of the year in Dubai. They both train at Flamengo.
Cielo finished the competition with a series of new records, three gold medals and one silver medal.
The Pinheiros swim team won this year's competition with 3,087.50 points, winning their record 13th trophy and marking their eighth-straight year as champion.
Minas Tenis finished in second place with 1,700.50 points, followed by Flamengo in the third place with 1,474 points.
