　　Drink driving is a very serious issue in China. In the first half of 2009, Chinas Drink driving cases jumped by 9%. In Beijing alone, 97 people were killed by drunk drivers by the end of July in 2009. The deadly result has spark repeated crackdowns on drink driving and heated debates on whether offenders deserve harsher punishrnent.

People often persuade others to drink more, even if they know their friends may drive when drunk. Secondly, the punishrnent for drink driving is not harsh enough. Many people argue that the cost of drink driving is too low, so drunk drivers do it again and again.

　　中国醉酒驾驶的增长有很多原因。首先，应该提一提，中国人交际广泛，但有时有过度饮酒的习惯。人们通常会劝别人多喝点，即使他们知道自己的朋友喝醉了以后可能会驾车。其次，对醉酒驾驶的惩罚还不够严厉。许多人认为醉酒驾驶的成本太低，所以醉酒司机一次又一次地这么做。

　　More severe punishment is defrnitely necessary to curb drink driving. No matter who the driver is, or what the reason is, any drunk driver should be severely punished. But we also need to attach greater importance to education. Anyway, prevention is always the best measure.
