Peking University released a name list of 39 high school principals who have the right to recommend outstanding students to the university. According to the university, the recommended students could be given offers without taking the national college entrance examination.
As a reform measure of enrollment, the recommendation policy has attracted widespread attention across the county. Some believe it is a new flexible method to recruit all kinds of talent and will supplement the present college entrance examination. Many people, however, are worried that the policy might impair equality in education. They maintain that while an effective supervisory system over the new practice is absence, there will probably be damage to equality and fairness in education.
Personally speaking, I m afraid that Peking University s recommendation policy might lead to greater education inequality. The policy is supposed to make the recruitment system more flexible, but when only 39 school headmasters have the right to recommend excellent students, is it really a flexible way of recruiting? This policy is nothing but an extra opportunity for these schools.
