　　Kobe Bryant first started turning heads on the basketball court（场地） when he was in middle school. His talents dominated（高于） the game so much that high schools from all over the Philadelphia（费城） area watched him grow up. The almost six-foot tall seventh grader（学生） definitely（明显地） had the make-up（体质） and genes for the game, as his dad was former NBA forward（前锋）, Joe Bryant.

　　When he entered high school at Lower Marion in Philadelphia, Kobe was a highly touted（被谈论的） recruit（新生）. He proved that he had the skills and work ethic（职业道德） to be a star at the next level and the scouts（球探） noticed this. He sold out the games everywhere he played during his junior and senior years and he didnt disappoint anyone. He once packed（塞、挤） the school gym so much that it caused traffic jam（交通拥挤） on the main highway just outside the school.

　　1．Court本意是场地，现在可指多种专有场地，主要用法如下。

　　（1）法庭，通常用the court来表示。比如：

　　There was a large crowd of reporters gathered outside the court.

　　一大群记者聚集在法庭外。

　　（2）运动场地，通常指网球场地等空间比较开阔的地方。如：

　　He met her on the tennis court.

　　他与她在网球场上相遇。

　　（3）朝廷，宫殿，王宫，可以指建筑物，也可以指王室成员。如：

　　This was one of the most splendid of the royal courts of Europe.

　　这是欧洲最壮丽的宫殿之一。

　　Several member of the court were under suspicion.

　　数名王室成员受到怀疑。

　　2．Highway和expressway

　　中国人管架设在城市之间的快速路叫做高速公路，于是误以为英语里的highway就是高速公路，都带一个高high嘛！其实不然。

　　Highway意思就是普通的公路、干道，为什么会高high呢？大概是因为修了高架桥的原因吧。而真正的高速公路，英语里叫expressway，express就是快的、直达的意思。比如：

　　A four-lane expressway runs straight to the capital.

　　一条四车道的高速公路直通首都。

　　我们常说得EMS，其实也就是express mail service特快专递服务。
