Helen: Actually, Im feeling very positive, thanks Steve.
Steve: Why? Whats happened?
Helen: Well, I found out on Friday that Im getting a promotion 提升 at BBC Learning English. Then on Saturday, I won 1,000 on the lottery.
Steve: Wow, thats brilliant!
不过这还不算什么,on Sunday, it got even better. Im so happy!

Helen: Roll? 我怎么可能打滚呢?I walk, or sometimes I run if I want some exercise.
Steve: Sure, a football rolls, but you can be on a roll. It means youre experiencing lots of success or good luck at the moment.
Helen: I see, 这个短语 on a roll, 是好事接踵而来,一帆风顺的意思。 Lets listen to an example.
Example
Man: I hear your sisters getting married.
Woman: Yeah, she met this amazing guy while she was working in the theatre in London, and six months later theyre engaged! And then, yesterday she was offered the lead part in the theatres new play. Shes really on a roll!
She was offered the lead part in a play.
Steve: Yes, if youre on a roll it means lots of things are going well for you at the moment. Heres another example.
Example
Man 1: How are Arsenal doing in the Premier League these days?
Man 2: Oh, theyre totally on a roll! Theyve won all three games this month, including the one against Man United!
Helen: So that man thinks his favourite football team are on a roll because theyve won all their games.
Steve: Yes, theyve won every game theyve played this month theyre playing really well.
Text message sound
Helen: Oh, wait a minute. Ive got a text message from my husband.
Steve: Whats he saying have you won the lottery again? Are you still on a roll?
Sound effect of car braking suddenly
Helen: No... actually, hes just had his bike stolen 不会吧,他的自行车被偷了? and earlier, he lost his car keys 怎么车钥匙也丢了呢!
Steve: Oh dear, thats bad luck! Unlike you, hes definitely not on a roll.
