　　Some countries and individuals try to deal with the problem of animal extinction. Others think it is more important to deal with problems of human beings. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion. （2011年7月9日A类）

　　It is true that a substantial number of animals are on the brink of extinction and human beings are also confronted with a sizeable proportion of problems in contemporary society. It seems urgent for people to decide which one weighs more than the other.

　　A host of animal rights advocates are convinced that animal extinction is undoubtedly the most pressing problem that deserves additional attention. This is largely attributed to the fact that the astonishingly increasing number of animals on the verge of extinction is likely to result in the biodiversity loss which is widely considered more detrimental than the depletion of ozone layer, global warming and contamination. Of crucial importance, the dramatic loss of species will also conduce to impairment to the ecological system, thereby threatening the existence of human beings.

　　However, a substantial percentage of socialists are of the perspective that we would soon face the same fate as the extinct animals if the problems that human beings are currently encountering were not effectively solved. For one thing, the ascending number of aging group in the world population tends to be more prominent and severe. For another, poverty has never been removed from human beings life. In other words, a significant number of people are still being plagued with hunger, not mention the quality life. All these problems ahead are also threatening human beings life.

　　My view is that there are various reasons contributing to animal extinction, but it is overwhelmingly accepted that the destruction of environment by human beings is the major cause; therefore, human should assume the main responsibility of solving the problem of animal extinction and this ought to be more important than any other issue.
