Chinese President Xi Jinping started a five-day trip to the Middle East on Tuesday. The timing of President Xi's Middle East visits to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Iran indicates China's diplomacy has entered its "Middle East time".

19日，国家主席习近平开始了对中东为期五天的国事访问。习主席开始对中东国家沙特阿拉伯、埃及、伊朗进行访问，表明中国外交进入了“中东时间”。

19日，习近平主席抵达利雅得，开始对沙特阿拉伯进行国事访问（state visit）。这也标志着中国特色大国外交（big country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics）进入“中东时间”（Middle East time），充分彰显中国对发展同中东国家关系的高度重视。

中东在全球格局中占据重要地位，对于中国来说，中东是海外最大的能源供给方（biggest overseas energy supplier），同时它是“一带一路”倡议（China's Belt and Road Initiative）的关键节点。习近平此访对中国整体外交布局（overall diplomatic deployment）意义重大，将有力提升中国同上述三国以及地区国家的双边关系（bilateral relations）和务实合作。

中国并不是在争夺中东霸权（contend for hegemony in the region），而将坚持相互尊重、合作共赢的原则（adhere to the principles of mutual respect and win-win cooperation），主张通过对话与合作，促进中东地区的和平发展（advocate dialogue and cooperation to promote peaceful development）。
