深圳“山体滑坡”

12月20日11时40分，深圳市光明新区凤凰社区恒泰裕工业集团后侧发生一起山体滑坡事故，导致工业园区多幢厂房侧塌，多人被困。

A total of 91 people went missing after a landslide buried 33 buildings in an industrial park in Shenzhen city of South China's Guangdong province on Sunday, according to local authorities.

据当地政府消息，12月20日深圳一工业园区内发生山体滑坡，导致33栋建筑物被掩埋，截止目前，共有91人失联。

山体滑坡（landslide）俗称“走山”、“垮山”，是常见的地质灾害（geologic hazard）之一。

据初步断定，此次山体滑坡并不是自然原因（natural causes）造成的，而是因为近两年附近施工挖土、在山体上堆积的大量渣土（accumulation of huge pile of soil）。人工堆土垮塌的地点属于淤泥渣土受纳场（a dump site），主要堆放渣土和建筑垃圾（soil and construction wastes），由于堆积量大、堆积坡度过陡，导致失稳垮塌，造成多栋楼房倒塌（the collapse of the building）。

此次事故造成了附近西气东输管道（West-East natural gas pipeline）发生爆炸，截止20日晚11时，共造成3人受伤，另有91人失联，33栋建筑物被掩埋或不同程度受损。

灾害发生后，国家主席习近平立即作出重要指示，要求广东省、深圳市迅速组织力量开展抢险救援，第一时间抢救被困人员，尽最大努力减少人员伤亡（do everything possible to minimize casualties），做好伤员救治、伤亡人员家属安抚等善后工作（treat the injured and comfort the family members of the victims）。注意科学施救，防止发生次生灾害。

共11支消防救援队，104辆消防车（fire engines）、566名消防官兵、123台生命探测仪（life-detectors）、4台无人机（drones）、30条搜救犬（sniffer dogs）参与救援。消防部队分成25个搜救小组已对现场进行全面搜索，目前发现5、6处有生命迹象的地方（detected signs of life at five or six separate locations），并正全力展开营救。
