习近平：中美将在2016年举办“中美旅游年”

President Xi Jinping announced on Tuesday in his speech in Seattle that China and the US will launch a China-US Year of Tourism in 2016.

22日，国家主席习近平在西雅图发表演讲时宣布，中美将在2016年举办“中美旅游年。

习近平强调，在新起点上推进中美新型大国关系(new type of major-power relationship)，尤其要做好几件事，其中一点就是广泛培植人民友谊(foster friendly sentiments among the peoples)。

习近平表示，国家关系归根结底是人民之间的关系(people-to-people relations)。中美两国虽然相距遥远(geographically far apart)，但两国人民友好交往源远流长(long history of friendly exchanges)。习近平说，70年前，中美作为二战盟国并肩奋战，中国不会忘记美国人民为中国人民抗击侵略、赢得自由和独立(freedom and independence)给予的道义支持和宝贵援助(moral support and invaluable assistance)。

习近平说，中美友好，根基在民众，希望在青年(future rests with the youth)。除举办“中美旅游年，他还宣布，中方支持未来3年中美两国互派5万名留学生。中国将为两国人民友好交往(closer people-to-people exchanges)创造更多便利条件(more favorable conditions)。

Chinese tourism chief on Wednesday vowed all-out efforts to bring the "China-US Year of Tourism in 2016" a success. "China will work with the US tourism industry, in accordance with requirements of the leaders of the two countries," said Li Jinzao, head of the National Tourism Administration.

国家旅游局局长李金早23日表示，将按中美两国领导人要求，同美国旅游界一起，将按全力以赴筹办好2016年将举办的“中美旅游年。

李金早表示，当前中美两国旅游业保持蓬勃发展的良好势头(good momentum)。两国旅游合作既是维持和引领世界旅游健康发展的主导力量(leading force)，也是建设中美新型大国关系的重要内容。在过去8年时间里，中美旅游交流规模总量超过2500万人次，年均增幅(annual growth)达7.6%。中美两国旅游年交流规模超过400万人次。

他说，旅游年的举办将对两国友谊(friendship)、商务合作(business cooperation)和文化交流(cultural exchange)起到促进作用，希望双向旅游人数(tourists between the two countries)早日突破500万人次。
