职场英语口语：送结婚礼物不能送钟

John：

My elder sister is getting married next month.

下个月我姐姐要结婚了。

Sally：

What do you plan to buy for her?

那你打算送她什么礼物?

John：

I saw a beautiful clock last time I was shopping and I wanted to get it for her.

我上次逛街时看见一个石英钟挺漂亮的，想送给她。

Sally：

Hey, you can't send clocks as a gift. Don't you know that?

送礼物不能送钟，你不知道吗?

John：

Oh! I forgot. Sending a clock is a symbol of bad luck. Then what should I buy?

噢!我忘了。送钟不吉利。那我该买什么呢?

Sally：

I will go to the shopping mall with you tomorrow and help you pick something out.

我明天陪你去商场，帮你挑挑看吧。

John：

Great. Thank you.
