Accepting advice接受建议:

Boss: Tom, you're 30 minutes late. This is the third time this week. You've simply got to get here on time. We depend on you to open this office at 9:00.

老板：汤姆，你迟到30分钟，这是这星期的第三次了。你实在应该准时到这儿。我们靠你在9:00开门。

Tom: I'm sorry, but the bus was late.

汤姆：对不起，是公共汽车晚点了。

Boss: In your case the bus is late every day. You absolutely must be here before 9:00. If you can't do that, we'll have to find somebody else who can.

老板：照你来说公共汽车每天都晚点。你必须九点以前到这里。如果你作不到，我们就不得不另找别人来干了。

Tom: OK, I'll try to get here on time.

汤姆：好，我努力准时到这儿。

Accepting and rejecting advice:

People don't always accept advice. However, drect negative responses such as "You are not right" or "I'll not do it" are considered very rude. Try to use forms like "No, I couldn't do that because..." or "That's sounds very good, but...," to show your doubts and objections.

人们经常不接受别人的建议，但是直接拒绝的说“你是不对的”或者“我才不会那么做”是很粗鲁无礼的。可以用“不，我不能那样做，因为...." 或者 “听起来不错，但是....”来表示你的疑怀疑和反对。
