NANCHANG, Jiangxi Province, Oct. 20 -- Hong Kong teenager Wu Jiafeng won the men's 100 meters heats with his personal best as the 7th Chinese City Games' athletics tournament kicked off here on Thursday.
Unbelievable as it looks, the 18-year-old Wu is just an amateur runner but he blew away the field in 10.47 seconds in the heats.
"For me training and competing is only recreation, I train 3 hours per day, it is a delighting moment for me to go after my dreams," he said.
For an 18-year-old boy, the result of 10.47 seconds would certainly be an optimistic sign for his career, but Wu said he was running for his interest.
"In Hong Kong, many athletes are running for health and fun, I will not run this far if I had no interest in it," he said.
"My target is to participate in the London Olympics, but I am not pushing myself too hard."
