BERLIN, Oct. 15 -- Bayern Munich blew Hertha Berlin 4-0 away to continue a clean lead at the German Bundesliga standings after nine rounds.
Thanks to a terrific performance by striker Mario Gomez and Frenchmen midfielder Frank Ribery, Bayern wrapped their fourth consecutive home victory to give Berlin no chance at Allianz Arena.
Staging a fulminate start, striker Mario Gomez opened the scoring after he finished a counter attack launched by midfielder Frank Ribery with only five minutes into the match.
Just two minutes later, Frenchmen Frank Ribery himself doubled the lead when he netted a diagonal pass from defender Jerome Boateng.
Berlin was absolutely over challenged so that Bayern was able to triple the lead through midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, who finished an assist by Frank Ribery at the 12th minute.
The Bavarians retracted with the comfortable 3-0 lead but still Hertha Berlin remained incapable to overcome Bayern's well-positioned defence.
At the 69th minute referee Michael Weiner awarded Bayern a penalty after a foul play, consequently, striker Mario Gomez converted the penalty to mark the final 4-0 score.
The Bavarians stay on top with 22 points out of nine matches whilst Berlin stays on 10th position.
In other first division matches on Saturday, Monchengladbach gave away a neat lead against shorthanded Leverkusen to tie 2-2, while Bundesliga newbies Augsburg celebrated they first win ever as midfielder Jan Ingwer Callsen Bracker converted a penalty just before end.
Monchengladbach almost turned the match against Leverkusen, but the "Werkself" levelled the score just before end.
Leverkusen caught the better start as defender Stefan Reinartz opened the scoring for his side when he slotted home a prolonged corner at the second post twenty minutes into the match.
As the match progressed Monchengladbach took over but they remained unlucky at the finish until yongster midfielder Marco Reus overcame Leverkusen goalie to slot home for the equalizer at the 65th minute.
At the 68th minute Leverkusen defender Gonzalo Castro weakened his side when he was sent off with a straight red card after a verbal abuse against the assistant referee.
Monchengladbach utilized the situation against shorthanded Leverkusen through midfielder Patrick Herrmann who over lobbed Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno for the 2-1 lead at the 72nd minute.
It looked like the first victory against Leverkusen in front of home crowd but Leverkusen youngster Andre Schuerrle destroyed all hopes by the "Fohlen" with his hammer from 16 meters into top right at the 87th minute.
Monchengladbach recaptured second position with 17 points whereas Leverkusen climbed from 9th to 8th position with 14 points.
In an exciting match with two straight red cards, two penalties Kaiserslautern shocked Schalke with a 2-1 victory.
Schalke combinated from the start but it was Kaiserslautern that opened the scoring as midfielder Christian Tiffert converted a penalty as Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Faehrmann committed a professional foul inside penalty area to book a straight red card at the 28th minute.
After interval shorthanded Schalke frantically pressed for the equalizer whereas Kaiserslautern staged a well positioned defence.
At the 61st minute referee Peter Sippel showed again a straight red card and pointed to the penalty spot but this time for Schalke as defender Rodnei committed a professional foul inside penalty area. Dutchmen and Schalke striker converted the penalty into bottom left to level the score.
Kaiserslautern remained unfazed and sealed the deal at the 72nd minute through striker Dorge Rostand Kouemaha who headed home a cross for the 2-1 decider.
Kaiserslautern climbed from 16th to 14th with 8 points whilst Schalke slipped from 5th to 6th position.
Stuttgart sealed the fourth victory out the last five matches with a 2-0 win against idealess Hoffenheim. Stuttgart striker Shinji Okazaki opened the scoring at the 48th minute when he slotted home from penalty area after a free kick and striker Pavel Progrebnyak sealed the deal at the 77th minute when he converted a penalty for the final 2-0 score.
Stuttgart jumped from 7th to 4th position with 16 points while Hoffenheim slipped from 8th to 9th with 13 points.
Wolfsburg earned a 2-1 victory over Nuremberg owing a brace by Wolves striker Mario Mandzukic. Mandzukic opened the scoring for his side at the 24th minute when he headed home a cross from the lead wing.
The Wolves retracted with the neat lead but they were punished by Nuremberg that levelled the score at the 70th minute through striker Christian Eigler.
Seven minutes before final whistle referee Tobias Welz awarded Wolfsburg a penalty due to foul play that was converted by Mario Mandzukic for the 2-1 decider.
Wolfsburg climbed from 13th to 11th with 12 points whereas Nuremberg slipped from 11th to 12th position with 11 points.
Bundesliga newbie Augsburg wrapped the first victory ever at first division owing a very late winner by midfielder Jan Ingwer Callsen Bracker who converted a penalty two minutes before final whistle for the 1-0 win.
Mainz slipped to 14th position with 8 points whilst Augsburg climbed from 17th to 16th position with 7 points.
The following fixtures are set for Sunday: Freiburg vs struggling Hamburg and Cologne vs Hannover.
