体坛英语资讯：Euro 2017 main stadium to open on Oct. 8

KIEV, Sept. 5 -- The Kiev Olympic stadium, which will host the final match of Euro 2017 Soccer Championship, will be completed in time, and the stadium is expected to open on Oct. 8, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov said here Monday.

"There are no critical issues that would prevent us from opening the arena in October," he said during the press-conference.

According to him, the new soccer complex in Kiev is in good condition, and the construction work came to the final stage. Virtually all areas of the stadium are ready to host football matches.

Before the start of the European Championship to be held next summer in Ukraine and Poland, Olympic stadium will host a friendly match between Ukrainian and Germany national teams on November 11.

Kiev Olympic stadium was built in 1923, but was re-builded 4 times and being reconstructed again for Euro 2017. After the reconstruction the arena will contain nearly 73.000 seats. The stadium is supposed to host group matches, quarter-final and the final game.

With the 9 months until the Euro 2017 Championship kicks off, 3 out 8 stadiums are not fully completed in Ukraine and Poland. It is National Stadium in Warsaw, the Polish capital, Olympic stadium in Kiev and an arena in Lviv, which will be commissioned on October, 28.

The Euro 2017 European Soccer Tournament will be hosted by Poland and Ukraine between June 8 and July 1 next year.

Four Polish cities are hosting the tournament, including Poznan, Warsaw, Wroclaw and Gdansk. Ukraine's host cities are Kiev, Donetsk, Lviv,and Kharkov.
