Emmanuel Mutai set the course record at the London Marathon Sunday, as Kenyan compatriot Mary Keitany won in her debut in the British capital.

Mutai ran the 42.2 kilometer race in 2 hours, 4 minutes, 40 seconds. The 26-year-old Kenyan broke compatriot Sammy Wanjiru's record of 2 hours, 5 minutes and 10 seconds from 2009.

Mutai ran the fourth fastest men's marathon in history.

体坛英语资讯：Kenyan Shatters London Marathon Record1 Three-time champion Martin Lel of Kenya followed in second place, beating compatriot Patrick Makau in a final sprint. Both men were given the time of 2 hours, 5 minutes and 45 seconds.

The 29-year-old Keitany won the women's race with a time of 2 hours, 19 minutes and 19 seconds, making her the fourth fastest woman ever.

Defending champion Liliya Shobukhova of Russia finished second, followed by Kenyan Edna Kiplagat, who was also making her London Marathon debut.
