社区活动站的“大管家”

早晨6点，刘显荣拿着钥匙，来到金夏苑社区的老年活动站，开门开窗，打扫卫生，摆好桌椅，等待着社区居民来活动。不论春夏秋冬，每天都是如此。这位金夏苑社区的志愿者，已经为社区居民服务15年了。

刘显荣今年70岁，以前是模式口小学的校长，1990年退休后，整天呆在家里没什么事做，他开始觉得心里很不塌实，人活着怎么能一点事情都不做呢。刘显荣说，是他的爱人提醒他到社区去帮帮忙的，这个主意让他觉得非常兴奋，于是，他当天就报名当起了社区志愿者。由于以前当过老师，文化素质比较高，所以，他被安排管理社区的老年活动中心，并负责组织一些活动。从此，老刘成了社区活动站的“大管家”。因为社区里老年人多，早晨起得早，为了方便他们活动，所以社区活动站每天早上6点就开门了。而刘显荣的工作也在每天的这个时候开始。

每天下午和晚上，刘老师就会组织大家，开展下象棋、打牌这类的室内娱乐活动，丰富社区居民的业余文化生活。按规定的时间，晚上9点钟活动站就应该关门了，可是碰上有的居民兴致正高的时候，刘老师就在旁边耐心地等着，从来不催促他们。所以活动站晚上10点以后才关门是常有的事。“大家到活动站来，就是图个乐子，看着他们下棋、打牌特带劲儿，如果到点就关门轰人，岂不是太扫兴了。”刘老师说，“我自己辛苦点没什么，大家高兴，我也高兴。”刘老师经常在活动站组织一些小型的棋牌比赛，吸引很多居民来参加，非常受大家欢迎。

除了把活动站办得有声有色，刘老师还是社区里有名的“维修工”。别看他以前是当老师的，但是动手的活儿也难不倒他，一有空闲，修修这儿，修修那儿，为社区带来了不少方便。居委会和活动站的桌椅、社区里的乒乓球案子……这些东西都是在刘老师的手里获得新生的。
