体坛英语资讯：Mainz down Frankfurt 2-1 in Bundesliga

BERLIN, Dec. 2 -- Mainz bounced back and overpowered 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt on two second-half goals at the closer of the 13th round in Bundesliga on Monday.

The "Nullfunfer" have secured the second straight win since the arrival of head coach Joachim Beierlorzer as Adam Szalai marked the decider to clinch three points on home soil.

Both teams needed some time to gain a foothold into the encounter thus goalscoring opportunities remain at premium in the opening stages.

The game needed a set piece to unleash the action on the pitch as Almamy Toure controlled a corner inside the box before setting up for Martin Hinteregger, who found the back of the net from 13 meters in the 34th minute.

Ten minutes later Frankfurt suffered a setback as Dominik Kohr fouled Levin Oztunali, who had a lot of green ahead, to see a straight red card just before the break.

After the restart, Mainz took over and pressed the visitors into the defence as Jean-Paul Boetius tested Frankfurt goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow with a hammer from the edge of the box.

The hosts turned their numerical advantage into a tangible reward five minutes into the second half when Karim Onisiwo scored with a deflected shot into the bottom left to level the scores.

Mainz thought they had turned the tides moments later but Onisiwo's second goal of the night was ruled offside by the video assistant referee.

However, Mainz remained on the front foot and kept Frankfurt's goalkeeper busy as Onisiwo tied to beat Ronnow from sharp angle. The Dane was hapless though moments later after Onisiwo headed into the path of Szalai, who protected the ball inside the box to tap home with a turn shot in the 69th minute.

Frankfurt showed a vital sign in the added time as Filip Kostic tested Mainz custodian Robin Zentner with a one-timer.

Mainz had another golden chance to extend the lead at the other end of the pitch but Ronnow was on guard to defuse Oztunali's shot on target.

With the result, Mainz climbed onto the 12th spot whereas Eintracht Frankfurt stay on the 10th place of the Bundesliga standnings.
