BELGRADE, Nov. 5 -- Italian club Venice ended the winning streak of Partizan in the basketball Eurocup, by beating the Group B leader 83-69 here on Tuesday in the sixth round of the group phase of the tournament.
Guests displayed their winning capacity from the beginning of the match in the Aleksandar Nikolic hall in front of more than 8,000 home fans with a 9-0 run.
However, Partizan, the only unbeaten team in this phase of the Eurocup, tightened its defense and started reducing the gap to three points at the end of the first break, mostly thanks to points of Ognjen Jaramaz.
The home team opened the second quarter with a 6-0 run but allowed the Italian team to even the score before halftime.
Partizan gained a 5-point lead early in the second half, but again lost edge in offense. Venice regained the lead thanks to three-pointers of Ariel Filloy and field goals of Austin Daye, and expanded it to even 14 points before the final period.
The second ranked in Group B, Venice will welcome Lokomotiv Krasnodar next week, while the group leader, Partizan will travel to Bursa.
