体坛英语资讯：Indonesia awarded right to host 2021 FIFA U20 World Cup

JAKARTA, Oct. 24 -- Indonesia has been given the right to host the 2021 FIFA U20 World Cup, an Indonesian football association (PSSI) official said here on Thursday.

Indonesia was chosen over Brazil and Peru after the final presentation session was held in the FIFA Council meeting in Shanghai, China, PSSI Head of Media and International Relations section Gatot Widakdo said.

Indonesia became the only bidder country from Asian Football Confederation (AFC) after Myanmar, Thailand, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) withdrew from the bidding process, Gatot said.

Indonesia's bid to host the 2021 U20 World Cup is part of its long term plans to host the championship for senior soccer players, the World Cup, in 2034 or 2038, Gatot added.

Indonesia has prepared 10 stadiums to host the event, located in Jakarta, and several other provinces, including West Java, South Sumatra, Yogyakarta, and Bali.

FIFA delegation made surveys in five of the 10 stadiums from September 16 to 19, Gatot said.
