　　My Brother Mike

　　Marty resented his retarded brother Mike. Everyone revolved around Mike: whether he was okay, how he was doing, what he was feeling. People even thought there was a resemblance between Mike and Marty. Marty hated it. The rhetoric that his family always gave that Mike needed more attention because of his special needs was never enough to revoke his anger. And while Mike revered his older brother, Marty always wanted to retaliate with some act of revenge that he had to have a retarded brother.

　　One day Marty decided he had had enough. During a family reunion in the rich residential area in which they resided Marty would push Mike into the retention pond behind their home as if it were an accident. Mike couldn’t swim and his resultant death would cause a resonance that would end all of Marty’s problems. In retrospect it had never been a good plan.

　　When they pulled Mike from the pond they were able to revive him. Marty needed quick revision to his story that it was an accident when his cousin had the revelation that Marty did it. But Marty had no retort. His heart was like a revolving door with hatred and love constantly exchanging places. When Marty finally retrieved his composure he told the truth and wept . His retrospect thoughts told him that he loved Mike too.

　　Everyone gathered around Marty and hugged him like he had never been hugged. Somehow they all understood. It wasn’t that they didn’t love Marty, but that they didn’t think Marty needed attention as much as Mike did. Everyone apologized and Marty’s life was different from that day on. He never hated his retarded brother Mike again.

　　我的弟弟迈克

　　马蒂很恨他的弱智弟弟迈克。每个人都围着迈克转：不管他是否有事、情况如何、感觉怎样。大家甚至还认为迈克和马蒂长得很像，这让马蒂很不高兴。家人经常说的话就是迈克需要更多的照顾，因为他的需要很特殊，这种话怎么也消不了他心中的气。虽然迈克很尊敬哥哥，马蒂还是经常想用各种报复行为报复一下，因为他恨他有这么个弱智弟弟。

　　一天，马蒂觉得他受够了。那天他们正在他们居住的豪华住宅区举行家庭聚会，马蒂想迈克推到他们家后面的保留池塘，就好象那是一次意外。迈克不会游泳，他因此而发生的死亡将引起一种反响，这样马蒂的问题就全解决了。回想起来，这根本就不是一个锦囊妙计。

　　他们把迈克从池塘里拉出来的时候还真救活了他。表兄透露是马蒂干的，这时马蒂就得赶快修改他那“是个以外”的故事。但是马蒂没有反驳，他的心像一个旋转门一样爱与恨不断地交替出现。当马蒂终于恢复镇静的时候，他说出了真相并流下了眼泪。回想起过去的一切，他发现他也爱迈克。

　　大家围在马蒂身边逼供内拥抱了他，就好象马蒂从来没有被拥抱过。不管怎样他们都表示了理解，原来并不是他们不爱马蒂，而是他们没有想到马蒂和迈克一样需要关心。大家都表示了歉意，从那天起，马蒂的生活发生了变化，他再也不恨他的弱智弟弟迈克了。
