MADRID, July 12 -- Atletico Madrid on Wednesday confirmed they have signed Sevilla's Spanish international winger Victor Machin Perez 'Vitolo' on a contract which will keep him at the club until the end of June 2022.

The news comes just a day after the Spanish media were reporting that Vitolo, who won three Europa League titles with Sevilla, was on the verge of extending his deal with the club.

That news appears to have spurred Atletico into action to close the deal by paying Vitolo's buyout clause, before it was raised to around 50 million euros.

Because of the FIFA ban on Atletico registering new players until January 2018, the club have confirmed the 11-time Spain international will spend the first months of the 2017-18 season on loan at Las Palmas, which is where he began his career. Enditem
