LONDON, Aug. 24 -- China's Chen Yufei stunned top seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan to reach the women's singles quarterfinals at the World Badminton Championships here on Thursday.

The 19-year-old Chen, who won her first major title at last year's world junior championships, beat the 20-year-old Japanese world No. 2 21-18, 21-19.

She will next take on either Thailand's eighth seed Ratchanok Intanon or teammate Chen Xiaoxin, the 14th seed, in the quarterfinals.
