BEIJING, Oct. 18 -- China hopes the process of Brexit can be steady and orderly, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said Friday.

Geng made the remarks at a press briefing in response to a question on Brexit.

After rounds of day and night negotiation, leaders of the European Union (EU) and Britain declared Thursday that they have reached a new Brexit deal.

"China has noticed the positive progress in the UK-EU negotiations lately, and hopes the process of Brexit can be steady and orderly," Geng said.

"This is in line with the interests of all parties including the EU and the UK, and is also conducive to the stability and development of the world," he added.
