BEIJING, Oct. 15 -- China and the United States hold the same position on reaching an economic and trade deal, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Tuesday.

Spokesperson Geng Shuang made the remarks at a press briefing when answering a question on the new round of China-U.S. high-level economic and trade consultations held in Washington.

"The deal will be greatly significant. It is beneficial to China, the United States and the world, as well as the global economy, trade and peace," Geng said.
