CHENGDU, May 25 -- Guo Tianyu's goal in the second half helped China beat England 1-0 in the 2018 Panda Cup international youth football tournament here on Friday.
England almost took a dream start just seven minutes into the game as Felix Nmecha's header smacked the upright. Chelsea's midfielder Conor Gallagher of England also fired at the edge of box but only saw his attempt roll past the post.
After a goalless first half, China finally opened the scoring at the 80th minute through forward Guo Tianyu's long range shot, assisted by substitute Liu Ruofan. England fought hard then but could not turn the tables.
Earlier in the day, Hungary beat Uruguay 2-1.
