国际英语资讯:G20 pledge to human-centered future of work policies welcomed by ILO

GENEVA, Sept. 2 -- The Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Guy Ryder has welcomed a declaration by G20 members on Monday committing to a human-centered future of work policy priorities.

"The G20 clearly recognizes the urgency of addressing the multitude of challenges we face in this rapidly changing world of work. The commitment to adopting human-centered policies for the promotion of decent work is key," said Ryder in a statement released here.

The G20 labor and employment ministers met Sept. 1 and 2 in Matsuyama, Japan and Ryder attended the meeting.

Their declaration focused on demographic change, gender equality, and women's empowerment responding to new forms of work, and adapting to demographic change and longer working lives.

The declaration recognizes the need for "policies for strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive economic growth, social inclusion, full and productive employment, and decent work" to shape "a human-centered future of work," said the ILO.

A strong focus in discussions was the need for policies that enable and encourage workers to exercise choices and preferences over a multi-stage working life with multiple transitions.

The ILO said the commitment to such work arrangements reflect a main recommendation of the Global Commission Report on the Future of Work published in January at the start of the ILO's Centenary Year.
