RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 3 -- Rio de Janeiro giants Fluminense moved out of the Brazilian Serie A relegation zone on Saturday with a 2-1 home victory over Internacional.

Colombian forward Yony Gonzalez gave the hosts the lead at the Maracana stadium by meeting a Caio Henrique cross from the left with a powerful header.

Internacional's Natanael Pimienta then inadvertently turned the ball into his own net while attempting to stop a Paulo Henrique Ganso run into the penalty box.

Edenilson pegged a goal back for the visitors by rifling in a low shot in second-half stoppage time.

The result lifted Fluminense to 16th in the 20-team standings with 12 points from 13 matches. Internacional dropped to sixth with 20 points.

In Saturday's only other fixture, Ceara secured a 2-1 home victory over local rivals Fortaleza at Arena Castelao.
