苹果地图业务高管遭解雇

Apple Inc. pushed out an executive responsible for its mapping service about two weeks ago, according to people briefed on the matter, as the company tries to recover from the map service's rocky debut.

据知情人士透露，大约两周前，苹果公司(Apple Inc.)解雇了负责其地图服务的一位高管。与此同时该公司正试图从其地图服务并不顺利的亮相中恢复过来。

The vice president, Richard Williamson, had been a senior leader with Apple's iOS mobile software team. During his tenure, he oversaw a variety of services, including at one point Apple's voice-activated assistant Siri.

这位遭解聘的副总裁名叫威廉姆森(Richard Williamson)，此前是苹果iOS移动软件开发团队的一名高级负责人。他任职期间负责了苹果的一系列服务，曾经一度还包括苹果声控助手Siri。

Mr. Williamson's boss, iPhone software chief Scott Forstall, was pushed out of Apple in October, also on the heels of the maps imbroglio. Mr. Williamson subsequently joined Senior Vice President Eddy Cue's group. Mr. Cue has been actively involved in trying to turn around the mapping service.

今年10月，同样是在问题颇多的地图业务推出后，威廉姆森的老板、iPhone软件主管福斯托尔(Scott Forstall)也被苹果扫地出门。威廉姆森随后加入高级副总裁库伊(Eddy Cue)的团队。库伊一直积极参与其中，试图扭转苹果地图服务面临的不利局面。

Apple released its new maps application as part of its latest iOS 6 mobile operating system in September. Criticism poured in world-wide as users of the new Apple maps found misplaced location markers and bizarre satellite images. Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook later apologized for the frustration the maps software had caused.

今年9月，苹果推出了作为其最新iOS 6移动操作系统组成部分的全新地图应用。使用苹果全新地图的用户发现大量错误的位置标记和奇怪的卫星图像，全球的批评之声不绝于耳。苹果首席执行长库克(Tim Cook)随后为地图软件造成的不便向用户道歉。
