WASHINGTON, March 27 -- China's Zhang Shuai/Australian veteran Samantha Stosur beat Monica Niculescu of Romania/Abigail Spears of the United States to make women's doubles semifinals of the Miami Open on Wednesday.

Zhang and Stosur, seeded sixth in the event, needed one hour and 44 minutes to dispatch their opponents at 6-3, 6-7(4), 10-6.

The Miami Open will end on March 31.
