体坛英语资讯：Indonesia eyes victory in Sudirman Cup in China

JAKARTA, May 8 -- Indonesian Youth and Sport Minister Nahrawi expected the country's shuttlers to bring home the trophy of the forthcoming Sudirman Cup which is to start next week in China.

Indonesia will send 12 male and eight female players to the biennial mixed team's badminton tournament from May 19 to 26 in Nanning.

Nahrawi admitted it is not an easy task.

"The competition will be tough. The rival countries have prepared players with an extraordinary way. It will be a tough challenge for us to get the victory in the Sudirman Cup," he said on Tuesday night.

Indonesia is bracketed in Group B with Denmark and Britain.

"The government hopes (to win the event), to bring back the trophy of Sudirman Cup to the motherland, which has long waited for it," Nahrawi said.

Indonesia won the first Sudirman Cup in its capital of Jakarta in May 1989. China won the championships nine times from 1995 to 2017.
