体坛英语资讯：Freiburg, Nuremberg secure late draws in German Bundesliga

BERLIN, Sept. 16 -- Luca Schmidt's late equalizer helped Freiburg to secure a 3-3 draw against Stuttgart, and Nuremberg's Virgil Misidjan shocked Werder Bremen with a last-grasp leveller to close the third round in Bundesliga on Sunday.

Freiburg and Stuttgart staged a six-goal thriller yet both sides had to share the spoils after 90 minutes.

The hosts secured a perfect start into the clash as it took them less than 60 seconds to break the deadlock after Jerome Gondorf nodded home Mike Frantz' pinpoint cross to the far post.

Stuttgart were shocked and unable to work out any promising opportunities and Freiburg retracted with the neat lead behind. Nevertheless, the hosts had the golden chance to double the lead but Nils Petersen's poor attempt to chip the ball over goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler was defused in the 36th minute.

The visitors silenced the home crowd moments later as Emiliano Insua hammered home the equalizer from the edge of the box after Freiburg failed to clear the ball following a corner in the 44th minute.

Stuttgart grabbed a fairy-tale start into the second half as Mario Gomez turned the tides from close range in the 48th minute. Freiburg regrouped and responded well only three minutes later when Jerome Gondorf curled a free kick into the far post corner to make it two-all draw.

Gomez remained in the thick of things as he made it 3-2 after capitalizing on an Insua cross into the box in the 56th minute. It looked like Stuttgart would carry off three points from Freiburg but the hosts left it late when Luca Waldschmidt's low shot secured a share of spoils in the 81st minute.

With the result, both teams snap their two-games losing streak and reap their first point of the season. Freiburg sit on the 15th position whereas Stuttgart remain in the bottom three.

Elsewhere, Werder Bremen almost settled for their second victory of the season but Virgil Misidjan's injury time leveller earned newly promoted Nuremberg one point on road.
