英国任命首位防自杀事务大臣

British Prime Minister Theresa May appointed junior health minister Jackie Doyle-Price the country's first ever Minister for Suicide Prevention in an effort to cut the number of people taking their own lives.

英国首相特雷莎·梅近日任命卫生部次长杰基·多伊尔-普赖斯出任该国首位预防自杀大臣，以尽量减少自杀人数。

According to the British government, about 4,500 people take their own lives each year in England and suicide remains the leading cause of death for men under 45.

The prime minister also announced other plans to tackle suicide problems in Britain.

特雷莎·梅首相还宣布了旨在解决该国自杀问题的其他计划。

New government funding up to 1.8 million pounds will be raised to "help ensure the charity can continue to provide immediate and lifesaving support to everyone who needs it, 24 hours a day," the government said.

英国政府宣布将额外拨款多达180万英镑，以帮助“确保慈善机构可以继续全天候为每一位需要的人提供可以挽救生命的即时支持”。

The government also has promised to train a million people in mental health awareness, publish a "State of the Nation" report every year starting in 2019, and provide tools to help schools measure their students' mental wellbeing.

此外，英国政府还承诺为100万人进行心理健康认识方面的培训，从2019年起发布年度“国情”报告，向学校提供有助于开展学生心理健康评估的工具。

"We can end the stigma that has forced too many to suffer in silence. We can prevent the tragedy of suicide taking too many lives. And we can give the mental wellbeing of our children the priority it so profoundly deserves," the prime minister later tweeted on her official Twitter account.
