国内英语资讯:Chinese Embassy in Khartoum marks 69th anniversary of founding of Peoples Republic of Chin

KHARTOUM, Sept. 29 -- The Chinese Embassy in Khartoum on Saturday celebrated the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Chinese Ambassador to Sudan, Li Lianhe, organized a celebration at Al Salam Rotana Hotel in Khartoum.

Sudan's Minister of Petroleum, Gas and Minerals, Azhari Abdul-Gadir Abdullah, Sudanese Presidential Assistant and official in charge of Sino-Sudanese relations' file, Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, as well as representatives from the diplomatic corps accredited to Khartoum attended the occasion.

"I'm glad that we are gathering here today to celebrate together the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China," said Li when addressing the event.

"This year marks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up policy, during which China has witnessed economic revolutions and changes. Today the size of China's economy is 34 times of that in 1978," he added.

Li further commended the level of the standing relations between China and Sudan, reiterating China's commitment to continue provision of support to Sudan.

"Sudan was among the first countries to recognize the People's Republic of China, and in exchange, China recognized the Independence of the Republic of Sudan, thus our diplomatic ties started in 1959," Azhari Abdul-Gadir Abdullah said while addressing the celebration.

He added that in 2019, the two countries would celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of relationship.
